SwordStaker Wrote:Thing is. I don't find it THAT bad. Yes I love Masteria and yes the quests gone make absolutely no sense and it's still wtp. But, in all honesty it's not that bad at all..especially if this is really only part one a lot can happen and change. I'm sorry but I'm not really all that disappointed. The new maps where the Krakian jungle was isn't that bad and can be seen as a decent training opportunity. The Alien mobs that give 3k? Okay. I mean whatever. There's a new training map have fun. Broken exp? Masteria has had broken exp since the day of it's conception. Wolf Spiders, Wind Raiders, Jesters. The forest, yeah it looks like trash now but there was NOTHING great about it in the first place. NOTHING. Cept maybe Big Foot. You can't get dep star anymore. Again okay, get a mon or make one of the new pendants. The forest was nothing but a giant maze that confused and got new players lost. Yeah I got the point of it and yeah it was cool but COMPLETELY unnecessary. If five people can quote me and say "I trained in the Phantom Forest or Crimsonwood mountains POST Big Bang" then I will retract what I said. It's fine, just forget about it. Ya'll sound like me when I was hung up on the Victoria Island change. The Alien quests were more then likely meant to be taken as a joke with all the cliches from the 50's sci-fi movies and 4th wall jokes. It's not something epic like CWK, it's not Krakia. The quest dialogue is FINE for what it is. You'll get used to the changes people, if the town even stays like that forever. The Alien thing will probably stay there but in a different way. It looks incomplete and it probably is incomplete, just wait it out watch what happens in the coming months. If NEXON intended this to be part of our Alliance Unbound updates then that's what it'll be.
I keep not accepting this.
Crimsonwood Keep and Phantom Forest were masterpieces. Their quests were masterpieces. The ideas were great. They threw it all in the bin as if it was crap.
I do know they removed the maze and the JQ to make it easier to new players. I do know those maps were "unnecessary". But you know, I'd rather take unnecessary than plain boring. Well, the new maps apparently are. They re-use many objects in the game unlike the old Masteria content. They are monotonously designed. While the old maps in Krakian Jungle had many platforms and objects with different and original shapes, some of the new ones just look like anyone with a WZ editor at hand could make them. Sorry to say that.
Now. Rather than having something like that, I'd have kept the old maps and added the new ones after them. Maybe making them look "destroyed" would've been okay, but not completely replacing them. The old BGMs were nice, too, and it'd be a shame to see them completely gone forever. But I guess I can deal with that.
The issues here are that there are still many things which were not taken care of and that they prefer taking the "easy for everyone" way rather than the "can be tricky, but it's intense" way. It's like taking the Divine Comedy and saying: "Hey, this book is way too long and difficult to understand. Let's remove most of its pages and only leave it with 30 so that everyone gets to understand it better". I know this is a game and all, but Masteria was supposed to be different than other areas. It wasn't even that hard to get over the maze: you just had to spend some time with it or just look for a guide on Google like most people. It wasn't a problem and it shouldn't have been removed. Period.
That plus the removal of the quests just give me a bad and disappointing feeling about Masteria. I just hope they're rewriting the quests and that they'll be as intense as before. But I'm not getting my hopes up too much, after seeing the destroyed NLC ones, which basically say "oh god, we're getting invaded by aliens! please help us and kill them!". They also have an unnecessarily unserious tone and are much less dramatic / deep. Like.. "the town is going bananas"?!? wtp?!?!? *sigh*

What about all the re-used map objects? All new Masteria areas used to not use ANY before-seen map object or very few of them anyways.
Meh. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up in the first place. Prose's Masteria is gone, and I realize I should just get over it.
