I'm sure most Pokemon fans have mentioned at least once in their lifetime how they find it funny how new Pokemon just magically appear

Mentioning does not equal complaining, which is exactly my point.
Reasonable people don't complain about new content not being sufficiently rationalized because they have not only accepted that that's simply how it has to be but also that, with a series running for so long, it's literally impossible to anticipate what ideas might come in order to pre-plan the entire continuity

Maple kind of NEEDS a story for it to be respectably fun.

There's a reason IsaacGS' story thread got so much attention. The story in Maple is one of the only good things these days.

If Maple's story were so good, IsaacGS' thread would have been unnecessary.
A large portion of any story's merit can be weighed by its presentation, and Masteria rolls out its story about as well as an non-fluent stutterer wearing a ski mask.

Nexon has actually gotten better about this over the years, avoiding the ridiculously long blocks of text, but I still bet that most of the people who've done the Future Ereve quests still don't know that that entire world is nothing more than a dream. Why? Because plenty of players don't give a pomegranate about the story.

And for your thesaurus link: synonyms don't always mean the exact same thing. They could have a similar concept, or mean something similar, but one will always be better used in certain contexts.

Hence my question which has yet to be answered.

And how exactly does maple need a story to be fun? Maplestory pre-big bang never had a story in any sense of the word and I found it to be many times more fun than the maple of now that DOES have some form of half-assed piece of crap story.

The Black Mage story has existed at least as early as the release of pirates (there may be earlier instances, but this is the one I specifically remember).
The entire explanation for their return was to warn people that the Black Mage was being revived.

Sub-par video, and the 4 clues that we've gotten all seem to point to an incredibly generic storyline.
I'm really just getting a bad feeling about it.

To be fair, when has Maplestory not had a generic storyline?

The closest they've gotten to original was the Visitors event, but that required them to ignore basically all theories on how time works.
