I think the main conflict on the years come in to play when Ellin Forest was said to be 100 years in the past, but then the heroes (And Demon Slayer) come around saying centuries (which is 200+ ).

Considering Demon Slayer and Mercedes storyline to be the most recent addition, I am going to play it safe and say it was AT LEAST 200 years ago. Certainly not just 100.
