And apparently someone's not reading responses to his initial statement. The gold is more important than the kill. That is why teams fight over things like dragon, and why last hitting every single minion you can last hit is extremely important early game. Because the gold you get from it is significant. Gold gives you the ability to buy your items for you build. Your items add directly to your stats, therefore making you, depending on your role, deal/tank more damage.
You just started playing the game, you are therefore paired up with other people who started playing the game. In other words, no one knows what the hell their doing. While 4/10/12 isn't necessarily the greatest score, it's not a horrible one either. Frankly, like many RTS/MOBAs, you really need an entry friend to get into them. Either that or nerves of steel, cause you're going to have to deal with really stupid people.
