dupe is out there, if they delete duped shyt, dupers will create mass amount of said items in a heart bit, because, again, the root of the problem isn't fixed
Because if they choose to pursue the dupe problem, they can get it right, so asking them to work on backdoor solutions simultaneously is pointless and if anything will just give them the excuse of taking even longer to fix the root of the problem because they "show the community they DO act on it"

Or, they could, y'know, remove all of the items, and there wouldn't be anything left to dupe. And like Sapta said, even if they don't remove all of them, letting the community know that they're targeting the items may discourage them from actually buying the damn things.
