I don't know if many people are familiar with the .hack// Franchise, but in the manga one of the characters says this line which, with recent developments, is never far from my mind:
"I love The World, but I can't stand CC Corp."
Replace "The World" with "MapleStory" and "CC Corp." with "Nexon America" and it's the general feeling of the community as a whole. In the series, the company CC Corp. continues to release content while their game is literally falling apart, refusing to acknowledge what's going on and deleting any attempts to speak out against the company on their forums (sound familiar?). It's only through the efforts of an infamous hacker and actions of former employees that the game's fate is saved.
And that's where the stories diverge. Will Nexon allow Maple to be saved, or are they going to let it degrade? It's quite a pity to let it go to waste, but if that's what they want...
