Unfortunately, once an item has been sold to an NPC, there is no way to get it back. Before finishing any transactions with NPC salespeople, a warning will pop-up asking if you are sure you want sell this item. Please always double check what items you are selling before the transaction is completed.
If only the AcornStory thing wasn't enough to show that they barely have an idea of what their game is... :|
