Recall that each physical computer runs multiple channels (between 2 and 7, depending on how new it is and how busy the server is), so the likelihood of all instances but one crashing is pretty low. Now, it could be a bunch of the usual channel-crashers, suddenly perfectly coordinated across all servers, and for some obscure reason crashing all but one instead of the usual one channel that is sufficient for duping. Or it could be someone else with a different "agenda" which is pretty much plain vandalism and griefing.
I don't claim to know. I'm just speculating while I wait for the situation to be resolved.

See, thing is, this corresponds pretty damn well with solar interference.
Server is sending and receiving, then solar interference, then servers unable to send or receive, then interference stops, and sending and receiving starts again.
I say it's more likely that ALL the channels are crashing in ALL worlds, and those channels simply hadn't crashed by that point. Maybe they were a little more resilient or maybe a bit more laggy and so they didn't crash by the time the MapleStatus had updated. Then when it updated again, everything was back online and the channel had appeared not to crash, when it had in reality.
I hope you know how extremely stupid it sounds to say that the channel crashers are perfectly coordinated.
Because really, it's more likely that Nexon workers are simply bowling and using the server computers as the pins. That last huge crash, that was -Hime- making a strike.
