Unscheduled Server Maintenance - 01.06.2012

Actually the way to search for these items is not by the attack on them, but by the slots.

Any item whose scrolled slots (the +N on the item's title) plus upgrades left > 2 + number of slots this specific item type has,
has been subject to this exploit and the account holding it should be permanently banned.

Thus, a +8 bwg is kosher, but a +8 wg is treif (or +3 with 5 upgrades left, same thing). Note that the proper number of slots is looked up in the database, it doesn't rely on the memory of any programmer.

Unfortunately, I believe 5 hours is way too low for Nexon's DB server to actually perform this search (which must be done on items in inventory, items in storage, and items in MTS). So I don't know what they'll do but it will necessarily leave some (a lot?) of hacked items in-game, and likely ban some people with unusual but legit items.

As for the familiar hack, my guess is that the hack will be blocked but no-one will be banned. If they do ban it will be by the "leveled too fast" rule, with the same unfortunate consequences as when they applied it to find BigFoot-exploiters, way back when.

Spawn hack will not be touched, except possibly as a side-effect of the familiar fix. (As far as I know, spawn hack is done by summoning a monster that kills the entire map. No idea whether that shares code with familiar summons and will be disabled unintentionally when familiars are fixed).

EE-hacked items and their owners won't be touched either. Nor 27/35-att vss and their kin.

The maintenance will go overtime, with 2x and Hot Time rescheduled randomly.

Those are my predictions, anyway.
