They did leave someone behind, whose knowledge is just enough to know if processes are crashing unduly. This is how they found out about the Scania crashes on the 23rd, and tried to do something about that and the missing Hot Time prizes.
However, in-game disasters like hacks and exploits... nope, nobody cares in the least.
What's worse, the "forum servant" went into the forums and didn't notice anything amiss (in the 10-20 minute cursory look she gave them, at 11:30AM. No rush, it's just a game, you know?). It wasn't until she went to cheerfully wish us a belated Happy New Year and someone tweeted back an innocent question about server check to deal with the hack, that she realized something might not be so Happy New Yearish in Maple World.
Yes, they're utterly detached.
