Familiar Hack

I think Maple got a little too big for its own good. There's a reason why most MMOs only make advertisements directed to the gamer community, via websites and anime stuff and such.

When you plaster a MMO in magazines and over TV, you get the attention of people who really aren't built for MMOs. Hence our hack happy community that doesn't really get how stupid this is.

That's not why we have hackers though. Hackers appear in every MMO you can find all over the world. It's most likely done because of its convenience of leveling up and obtaining money/gear. Not because they're advertising in the wrong places, bringing in the wrong people. Where they advertise the game isn't going to change that MapleStory and every other MMO has always had hackers and always will.
