There is no need for any retcons. From what I see, everything is consistent, plot-wise.
The only inconsistency is that every new Hero has had a more fleshed-out story than the previous due to the way the story is being developed.

Aran's story needs a bit of fixing though =S

Last time I went through it, I remember Lilin going on about how each of the heroes had a magical talking weapon(or something of the sort), but it seems they've decided that that's only true for Aran.
Also at the very least, the little cutscene thing that talks about the Black Mage and the 5 heroes should be redone to show a more correct image of what each of the heroes looked like.

@Below: Maybe she didn't exactly say talking weapons, that's how my brain remembers it though, I'd have to go back and look.
It's right near the beginning, when she's trying to help you figure out which of the heroes you are.
