Hellfire only works when using fire attacks on burning monsters. I notice that my Fire Walls and Infernos and Hot Rods are almost all crits, so I guess you can burn them with the first hit of a multi-hit skill and it'll count. My main is ice, but I'm making a fire ele because I like eles.
Orbs are better because they have slightly higher magic than puppets and grimoires. I personally like grimoires the best because it's special attack takes the least time to execute, but went orb for my 40 weapon.
Sorc skills: max out the escape skills (Blink, Aerial Evasion, Power Blink, Rising Blast), 5 Fire Burst and Glacial Spike, at least 12 Toxic Spray, and 1 Shockwave if you want, Then decide if you want fire or ice, even though you'll get skills from both trees anyway.
