Demon Slayers have a huge back-story from my experience with mine in JMS. Possibly bigger than the other Legends...and it all has to do with the Black Mage and his Generals...
The class is practically a Legend. The only part of it that makes it Resistance is that his hibernation sphere or whatever that is is found by the Resistance. All the main quests for Demon Slayer in the higher levels have to do with the Black Mage's generals (Including running into them as story elements and talking to them several times), so I don't really see the thought that him being in the Resistance doesn't make him a Legend. You could say that he is the Resistance's Legend, if you wanted to. Demon Slayers even have the "In the Past" backstory element that all the other Legends do.
In my book, Demon Slayer is a Legend. The quests I've done throughout my playtime supports this thought.
As to the Demon Slayer nerfs...Is there really a reason their only Bossing skill was halved in damage? I mean, sure, it was pretty damn powerful...but now it's practically crap. Same thing with Demon Explosion. I think Devil Cry's damage outmatches it now...and you have all the buffs Devil Cry gives...makes Demon Explosion worthless even more than I originally had thought it to be.
Outside of that though, these nerfs for Demon Slayer aren't too bad. -60% total damage to Demon Slash makes sense...it's a basic skill that costs NOTHING, and it kills every single basic enemy without even trying. Before this, there was literally no reason to use any other skill in basic training unless you just didn't want to move up to your enemies. Hell, when I first got to 4th job in JMS, I didn't even need to finish the entire combo to kill Gigantics every single time. Sometimes I didn't even need the third attack.
