Killed 3 Destroyers in one night.
Used a Phasesabre, the melee Adamantite Armor set, and Ironskin/Regeneration/Thorns/Soup Bowl potions. Warrior Emblem, Cross Necklace, Prefixes on accessories that give +2-4 Defense (I reforged stuff a bunch of times, very expensive >.<)
Make an Arena-ish thing with Wooden Platforms to fight him in. When you summon him, stand on top of his body (not the head) and swing wildly. You'll take only a couple damage per hit which you'll end up healing back through the hearts dropped by the probes, and since he has multiple body parts and the Phasesaber swings so uiquickly/in a wide arc he takes damage VERY fast.
