It's too soon to say whether that's the optimum strategy. The rest of the camp is a joke compared to the buff monster anyways, and you wouldn't be putting the other guy too far behind when you compare the travel that you had to do in the first place.

LoL is hella casual compared to DotA and its offspring. I could go into an essay why it is that casuals will always dominate the earth, but for now you can just accept it as a fact of life.

i've restarted playing bot games lately since i find myself unable to control the rage playing solo queue
I can roflstomp mid in bot games with virtually anyone, anytime. It's not really so much of an achievement than it is a testament to your ability to exploit the AI. It might become harder after the minion damage nerf, but it's still very much possible.
