They left or put that image of a video there so they could get the position of the youtube video right. It's hidden behind the video, so care to explain what's so important here?

This, exactly. Its just a way of laying out an image that will be used for a background that will have another element on top of the image. If they didnt line up correctly, well, that would be an issue.
