If you're having to reset the pointer, you're doing it wrong.
Skyward Sword doesn't make use of the Wii's sensor bar. AT ALL. Everything is done through Wii Motion Plus' gyrosensor, so you do not have to point at the screen at all. If anything, pointing at the screen only serves as a reference for yourself to feel comfortable.
