Those are literally just for people like my grandparents who don't know the difference between a legitimate software update popup and one that is a virus. Something with script blocking and anti-XSS built in to your browser like NoScript is really all you need, and even then that's just there as a cushion to make your life a little bit easier. And Peerblock if you want a placebo effect, I guess.
I haven't used anything at all, ever, and the last time I got a virus was 7 years ago, and that was me getting tricked into DDLing and installing a script on D2, so it was entirely my fault. Everyone needs an experience like that anyway, so they know that if you do something stupid, there will be actual negative consequences. Better to do it young while you don't have a ton of money linked to your computer.
