Game of the Year

Every sequel is going to be very similar or else they would just give it a new title and call it a new game. Starcraft 2 is the same thing as starcraft 1 with updated graphics and units.

I'm also rooting for as many Portal 2 wins as possible

Bad comparison. The only thing Starcraft 2 and Brood War have in common is the setting, the basic premise (gather resources, build structures, produce an army to kill the enemy structures) and some of the units. The single player campaign broke the "play through 10 missions as each race, watch some cutscenes" mold entirely. The multiplayer game is completely different and you couldn't just describe it as a map pack for the original game.
