I doubt she died recently, she was able to use healing magic to help Makarov back to health way back in the phantom lord arc, and the members of fairy tail clearly knew she had some sort of healing magic to take Makarov there in the first place.
I'm also intrested in the movie (and that the fairy tail anime is coming out in America/europe on DVD, I forget if it was ever mentioned in this thread)
Well see Makarov and her were members together and grew up together, that was easily established. When wendy says she's familiar with her scent and her voice it's a new foreshadowing of her being directly the dragon. My assumption is that the exgf mak grew up with passed away and the dragon took her place, which is why she aged the way she did. On the other foot you could be right, she could have just grew up with mak and fell in love with him, but I just don't see that happening and it seems too forward based on how fairytail has been going thus far.
