If you alt+tab at any point during the Zak battle before 3rd body, you won't disconnect at the end. I usually did it during 1st body, but it doesn't matter. Changing the graphics during the battle has the same effect, though I personally feel the alt+tab method works best (it's never failed me).
Playing in Window mode also prevents the glitch from happening at all. I don't have to alt+tab at all if I play in WM (which I have ever since it came out). Be aware that this Vista glitch also exists in HT.
I've heard people say that once you get Vista SP1, the glitch goes away. But that is false (for me, at least), as I've always had this problem. It's not a big deal, but it is pretty dumb.
