I've bought a variety of useless things that seemed like a good idea at the time. Maybe they were and I just grew to take them for granted, which resulted in them losing their previous values.
Nevertheless, how do you Southperrians control your urges when they need to be? I try to step back and carefully assess my needs and wants on the item in question, but even that judgement is, to some degrees, biased.
Tips? Stories? Rules of thumb? Note, though, this is buying stuff for YOURSELF. Buying gifts is an entirely different thing, as far as I know.
One thing I still can't get over is an upgrade to SSD for my laptop. Their continued price reduction doesn't help either.
