Unrelated...thinking of buying Karthus but I've only played him like twice during his previous free week. I don't like his laning phase/early game but his teamfighting is pretty decent. Do you guys think he's okay or very situational? Also has anyone here tried Revive Teleport Karthus? Looks so trolly yet viable...
I have played Karthus for some time and this is what I can tell you:
His early game (up till level 7-8) is simply alright, because his Lay Waste isn't at its peak, and so you're stuck on landing your Qs for last-hitting weakened minions, and there's a possibility that you might get pushed/zoned. Once you max your Lay Waste out, you'll be able to farm pretty well, provided that you didn't give a kill or two to the opposing laner. By mid-game, you'll be able to farm/push very well as you have Lay Waste + Defile to decimate creep waves in mere seconds.
For teamfights, while he is technically a ranged champ, you'll find yourself having to get up and close because your Defile AoE will do TONS of damage when its on and hitting enemies that are in range. Oh and don't forget his signature ability: Requirem. Watch the map every so often once you hit 6, and you can usually get a free kill if you see an weakened enemy trying to retreat (and hopefully, your teammates will be able to help you out with that by pinging to give you a head-up). In teamfights, using R becomes more of a situational issue; in other words, using it at the right time in teamfights will have extremely devastating effects, whether or not you kill someone with it. Use it at the wrong time though, and you pretty much wasted a good ultimate.
And for the love of God please do not do Revive + Teleport Karthus. That's an right-on-sight "reported for trolling" right there simply because people will frown upon you for merely having Revive.
