How the he'll are they supposed to know what items you lost?

NX? the ratio would drop like mad. Tradeable items? Deflation.

If one's items were restored as they were, deflation wouldn't be an issue.
The NX ratio isn't affected by the amount of NX in the wild... It never has been.

They didn't say they would be compensating, they said they would be "helping you start up again" or something along those lines.

I don't understand your penchant to ignore something that is readily available to you.
Relevant:

"The compensation package that you will receive will depend on the character that receives it. Each package is catered to the job, class, and level of your character. You will only receive ONE package, so carefully consider which character you would like to receive the compensation package."

Again, do you really expect them to compensate your 30b in equips or w.e that you lost?

"Better than nothing" is never, ever an acceptable excuse to anything ever.
And, yes, we should. Especially when those things "lost" include NX which is built around a system that tracks every transaction, making the restoration a trivial matter.

Either theyd have to 1. Compensate this to every player(refer to above posts on deflation)
or 2. View accounts on a case by case basis(nearly impossible/easily abused, ie xfering all your items, and then filing a hacking report)

If they're viewing accounts on a case-by-case basis, how would that be abused?
They should be thorough enough to notice any anomalies.
