Game cliches

Terry Pratchett once wrote "the reason that clichés become clichés is that they are the hammers and screwdrivers in the toolbox of communication." Trying to avoid them entirely is a wasted effort as you can still tell a great story through commonly-used elements. Consider Ico.

I agree, but he can still avoid annoying cliches. I mean, he could avoid writing about the girlfriend getting captured and the hero going to save her all over again.
