If they copy from the manga/anime they are also "Sorta" Copying from the mythology. But in all honestly these ideas are more likely to come from manga/anime rather than mythology for the sheer fact that you see M/A everywhere, where mythology its there but unless you are looking for it you are not likely to even look at it.
edit: although if they in turn see the M/A that doesnt mean they wont look at the mythology to have a better understanding of what they are going to do and pomegranate.

You'd be surprised at how many idiots posted that on the LoL topic from where I got the image from.
A lot of other idiots are starting to pull the same pomegranate with Warhammer and saying it's a Gears of War ripoff, when Warhammer's been around for 20+ years.
