Since Moffat took over as head honcho it has become a soapy relationship drama, with some action thrown in as an afterthought, rather than the pure action adventure show it was. And I hate season long story arcs too. The last 2-3 seasons have just been one long story. I'd love to see the show go back to its pre Russell T Davies era, it was good then.
Have you considered listening to the Big Finish audios? They're still doing 4 episode stories with pretty much every classic Doctor still alive.
Also, why do you hate season long story arcs? I liked the old serial format too, but I kinda understand why they changed it with new Who. I still prefer the Moffat seasons to the RTD ones, because I like the way Moffat handles relationships better.

I haven't been posting because I'm completely baffled by the last few episodes. My one-track mind keeps asking why/where the story arc has disappeared to. I feel like I've been hit in the face with a trifecta of filler episodes while someone is giggling and writing in devious twists that happen offscreen. That's cheating!
Seriously, there's one episode left. How is everything going to get wrapped up? Is everything going to get wrapped up this season? Argh.
