& year I kinda excepted every Champion under the control of a skilled person to be pro against me, it's just when I first played I thought me dying a lot was due to me being rubbish. Turns out everyone I've encountered finds Beginner AI hard.
Hey, we all start somewhere =P
I believe there are at least two EU players that still post here from time to time, one of them being Eddikins.

It's all perspective. I don't mean to get up in his grill, but while Will is a solid player for normal queue, he doesn't have great map awareness, strategy, and adaptability. All he's played are jungling tanks, and the few champs he does play that don't fit this category, he suffers =( One case that has stuck out prominently to me is the player known as tictacs. Back in the day when Poppy was freshly released, he would be a high elo player who played Ashe exclusively, having over a thousand wins with her. Then when ranked came out... well, see for yourself.
If you play all kinds of champions, you'll quickly learn their weaknesses and what different kinds of mindsets there are. Most important of all, you'll realize all the different strategies and capabilities that come with the champs; what situations you can be aggressive, what situations you should gtfo, etc. So when the time comes for team coordination, you can pull off the awesome things in life. At the same time though you have to figure out what kind of mindsets and items your teammates are running, so you don't go down in an anti-climactic blaze of glory.

If you're truly better than what your elo says, then you will absolutely gain rating over your games. Leavers/trolls or not, you will certainly stomp them. I've done it. Saintvicious has done it. bigfatjiji has done it. Everyone has.
Truth. Back when elo was actually viewable by opening up your log files, my main and smurf accounts had nearly identical elo ratings. It was pretty damn amazing. Though if there's a problem with my comparison, it's that the people I encountered on my smurfs were generally not as knowledgeable, so they still fell to some of the old tricks I had up my sleevies. They made up for it in other ways though.
