same reason he didn't absorb Jiriyas Genjutsu way back. His power is only to absorb ninjutsu, not Genjutsus or Taijutsus
No, his power is to absorb chakra. So things like tsunade's chakra enforced punches would lose their monstrous strenght. And even so the sword of totsuka used by susanoo is a ninjutsu. Also Gaara has that face because he knows Naruto and would thus know that he would show up sooner or later I think.
