It was needed, he was one of the top strongest people EVER and he barely got any spotlight besides flashbacks and weak fights.

Can someone clarify how exactly the Crow made Itachi free from Edo Tensei? I thought it was him masking a genjutsu over it which I would think, like Jinn, that would be how he'd stop Edo Tensei.

Or by using the Sword of Tonkin. Holy pomegranate lol he easily came in and took Nagato out in an instant, and the two best Jinchurikee were peaching and had a tought time...I'm such a fan.

I think him one hitting Deidara, Kakashi and Orochimaru and dealing with sasuke the way he did provided him with enough spotlight compared to someone like tsunade or neji, but I guess that's just because differnt people like differnt characters.

The crow was shisui's ultimate genjutsu, which he according to itachi freely gave to him in order to aid him in saving konoha. Itachi then gave the crow to Naruto as another of his fail saves if sasuke decided to go as insane as he did after madara would confront him. Another one was the amaratsu, which Itachi hid in sasuke's eyes. The crow has the power to instill a command in someone's brain making themselves believe it. In this case Itachi used protect konoha and made it so it would activate upon seeing a mangekyou sharingan in order for Sasuke to be turned to the good side again when Naruto and him would meet again. It was a simple fluke that itachi got edo tensei'd and met Naruto which gave him the protect konoha command, which broke him free of Kabuto's edo tensei's control. I don't really know why Kabuto can't just release the jutsu, but I guess that would lead to the other edo tensei's end as well.

Nagato could have easily used bansho tensin with a soul grab first, just like he did with naruto. It was just a matter of who would use their one hit KO first. You could think that was impressive or you could just think that it was 3vs1. I for one choose for the latter. Itachi is special, but Nagato is more special. (I also don't really get why he didn't just absorb the sword of totsuka)
