As for Itachi knowing about Konoha acknowledging Naruto now, even if the whole village didn't acknowledge him until he defeated Nagato, he was already acknowledged and admired by a lot of Shinoby and some Citizens, in other words, he had friends, and I consider that already was enough to say Konoha does. Itachi also spent some time with Nagato before they met up with Naruto, I'm sure Itachi asked him "so... how did you die?" and this answered (well, you know this kid Naruto From your village?..."
Even if what he said wasn't really that special, Itachi's speech + first smile ever = inmensely badass
If it was Naruto, then why did Masashi hid the fact it was him? He would have posted Naruto with the message saying: The Heroes, or Tailed beasts, have come to the rescue!
And wonder if Kabuto could revive Jiraiya... or the 4th like Orochimaru once intended? There are more Rasengan users afterall.
