It's funny because the two aren't at all related. At best, you can make the assumption that whoever came up with mfw severely lacked English grammatical skills. There are more than one factor that lead to an incident. For example:

Using a phrase in a way that it forms an incomplete thought is certainly a grammatical issue.
Whoever came up with the acronym likely included a picture with the phrase and, thusly, isn't the object of my disdain.

I reaaally wish articles would stop saying Nexon is a "mictrotransaction-based business model". It isnt. $11 for 1 item is not a micro transaction, heck even $2 isnt a microtransaction.

A microtransaction is any sale of a virtual good for real world currency, regardless of price.
It's true that it has become a bit of a misnomer, but welcome to the English language.
