Why can't nexon make content in the present? Does anyone else not see the point at going back in time when the real problem is currently in the present?

The most powerful army in the world hasn't been turned evil in the present (admittedly that is in the future).
The Black Mage isn't free and in power in the present.
I assume that the forces of evil that exist in the present still exist in the past and future (zak, HT, Pianus, Balrog, etc). We actually have it easy right now, PB and Von Leon are the only two large threats.

I am going by what Manji says. I believe he says something along the lines of that Tristen died over 10 years ago, and the Dark Lord followed soon after.
