Clarification: Last posted among the tied hideouts* I think that makes more sense.

I understood it the first time. I'm just saying that no matter what the two unknowns do one of the them will be killed for sure:

-There's currently 5 hiding places
-There's currently 4 people in 4 different hideouts for sure
-Two people are unknowns

With that they have the options:
A) Join the empty hideout
B) Join another hideout
C) Create a new hideout

So we have the two player matrix game:

	A	B	C
A	(-1,-1)	(0,-1)	(0,-1)
B	(-1,0)	(0,-1) or (-1,-1)	(-1,0)
C	(-1,0)	(0,-1)	(0,-1)

Considering player 1 (the one choosing the lines) acts first (meaning he creates the hideout first or chooses the older existing group. B depends if they both choose the same or different hideouts.

For both players, A is always better or equal to B, so we eliminate that option.
Then we have the game:

	a	c
a	(-1,-1)	(0,-1)
c	(-1,0)	(0,-1)

For player 2 option A is always better than C so we eliminate that.
Player 1 is indifferent between A and C (he dies either way).

So finally, the one acting first is at disadvantage and would die. Choosing C flags your behavior so the other one would just choose A and win. So the only reasonable choice is for both to choose A and die together =P




Yes, I liked my Game Theory classes. Good luck GMSinfighter and Raul, hope you have fun with your dilemma. Your best game move gets both of you killed and you can only cooperate in a way that leaves one of you alive, but who would sacrifice himself?

Not that I expect to see a rational decision from both, I imagine one of them has already chosen A, B or C randomly and the other will just HAVE to choose A and pray for luck.
