I know you're right, it's just....how do I put this. I'm in this sort of place right now where I want to get this whole Black Mage thing over with, because there's just SO many ways they could keep us guessing for a very long time, and my control freak personality simply wont stand for that. While at the same time, I can't have this mentality without also coming to the realization that Maple's going to end, eventually. I guess I'm letting this confliction influence my opinions too much...

I think you may be confusing my point.
My belief that Maplestory 2 won't have anything to do with the original stems from the fact that the former is being developed by a completely different team and that they're likely going to run concurrently.

The release of Maplestory 2 doesn't have to mean the end of the original Maplestory.

That said, believe me, I understand exactly where you're coming from...
I pineappleing hate when fictional works stretch out the primary plot for no real (i.e. story beneficial) reason.
It's something that seriously pisses me off because it's just bad story telling.

I don't think Maplestory has reached that point, though. However, if it takes more than one big update after the last Hero touches ground for the Black Mage to be revealed, the shark will have officially been jumped.

No. What relevance does that have to anything?
WoW has already demonstrated the ability to let the story march on, despite the fact that playing old content is like going back in time.
