MP Eater has always been useless at high levels... It's really only useful at low levels so you can be cheap and not have to use MP Pots.
Higher levels you're going to be taking damage anyway, so the minute amounts of MP it will actually 'eat' aren't noticeable since you'll be potting to stay alive.
