Seems like they're preparing a new part of Time Temple.

I seriously doubt that Freed and Afrien were in the trailer at all. There are too many graphical inconstencies between the dragon master and the dragon in the trailer and Freed and Afrien. Look at the dragons' head markings and the dragon masters' hair colours. If anything, the trailer shows carbon copies of Evan and Mir.

Whether the battle in the trailer happened in the past or not is subject to uncertainty, since everything goes out of the window when you're dealing with an area that pineappling lets you travel through time.

But that would also mean that Evan and Freed were coexisting in the same timeline, separated by a mere distance. (assuming of course that you accept that the evidence points towards Evan being in the mercedes trailer)

Evan wasn't in that trailer. It's Freed, the only inconsistence is the fact the Dragon is much smaller. That is not only a trailer, it's shown at the beginning of Mercedes' storyline, which means it happened in that moment. If you watch the trailer again, you can notice it suddenly stops when mercedes launch a powerful attack.
She was defeated by that time, and then wakes up near Freed and Afrien. Also, she cries specially for Freed, it looks like he was at least a good friend of her, since she remembers of him everytime.

Still, if you compare to that image when Mercedes finds him dead, there's no graphical inconsistence for Freed. Look at this image and compare to the screen.

The only graphical inconsistence, as i said before, is just the fact Afrien's much smaller, the dragon looks like last stage Mir, there's nothing wrong with it. Since Mir was born from an egg laid by Afrien, and both are Onyx Dragons. Still, i find that dragon pretty different than Mir, he looks much more adult. :x
