Which is why he's saying trophies and achievments aren't necessary since you can make your own. The only reason they exist is because people want to show them off.

But that's wrong because as I said, I don't show them off. Most people don't look at other peoples trophies either. There may be some part of people that wants to show them off but it's not actually happening that way (unless you have one of those signatures that shows your trophy progress on forums).

In reality achievements are used for personal goals. On the basest level they are an accomplishment checklist. And even if the only reason you're doing something is to get a trophy there's ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with that because you're still doing it. You can't fault someone for needing a reason to explore some elements of games. Hell, there are things I've learned about games solely because there are trophies and it's not like I don't explore, it's because some stuff is so damn random or requires such ridiculous prerequisites.

Anything that keeps me playing a good game longer is a good thing. Faulting people for needing incentive to do something is such a shitty elitist attitude that makes you worse than anyone who's doing something just to brag.
