Having tangible proof that you've accomplished something is a bad thing? Since when? People like to be able to show off their accomplishments. That's what certificates, ribbons and trophies exist. It's proof that you've done good. Achievements don't hurt games at all--they add to them. There's no reason for them not to be there. Whether or not you choose to use them is your prerogative, but the option should be there.
