I agree with the guy before this- hybrid is the way to go for almost everything. In this game having skills >> having a few skills with high mastery levels (especially since per mastery level, it only goes up like a couple bits of damage instead of a butt ton).
That's what i enjoy about this game- it has a TON more freedom with builds than say a game like Maplestory, where there is a best most efficient build in terms of maxing skills.

From my experience (not on manticore runs, only level 18), hard and master levels have the same rewards. But Abyss levels net better equipment/drops than anything else.
