If we are to consider the FA as a free extra attack with 150% of our range, it would be rather meager damage addition, free yes, worth the points, i suppose. However if we take a trip in the way back machine we can see that FA used to perform a like attack with increased damage.
Now it seems to be a tac-on-addition to damage, mitigation by defense as any other attack would be. I would imagine this to be problematic as the damage bonus would be on par with the souls from the CK class, which mind you is a first job skill. To put it in pure warrior terms, a level -3 (yes negative level) power strike, or 14 slash blast. Only that it is chance to procured for free.
However if it worked as it used to, that would cause balance problems with other classes, granted a single impressive attack has been massively overshadowed by multiple smaller attacks as of late from other classes.
As a warrior, FA doesn't seem too important as say a Bowmen, it just feels like an after-thought. Like if you have enough SP after all the other stuff you want.
As a Hero I can see the utility of a free off brandish, makes you compete with low NX Dual Blades.
