Whenever I try to negotiate with someone for a trade with momentary value, i just fail horribly.
I can argue very well with my teacher for more marks on my test, but when it comes up with something that have momentary value, i just fail horribly.
Ever since I was a kid, I never get any money, my parents would buy stuff for me, but i was allowed to hold money until when i was 12. When I was 12, yugioh became the most popular game. When trade cards and stuff, I always gets ripped off (unless i'm trading some kids who's 5 years younger than me) The thing is, I don't know how to negotiate, I always offer high and higher for something i want. And i'm afraid for the trade to be unsuccessful.
Similar thing happened when I started playing maplestory, I get ripped off all the time (except when i trade noobs) I always buy high sell low, but I can't help it, because when I buy, i really need the item, and when I sell, i really need mesos.
When i got my job, I'm getting paid for $9.50/ hour while most others get $10.00/hour or even $11.00/hour, there is only 1 person beside me that's getting $9.50/hour. The thing is, when I find the job on the ad, it says the job was $10-12/hour. I wanted to speak to my boss about raising it, but i never find a good time to talk about it, and in the past almost 4 month, I still haven't talked about it with my boss.
Yesterday, I was at this mall with my friend. (it has the nickname black market, and sells all the pirated stuff, mainly imported from China) The reason we came to the store was to buy Chinese Chess for the Chinese Chess club in our school (I'm VP). so the chess sets was $3 each, and we decided to buy 8 of them. that's $24 in total. While I was looking in my wallet for the money, my friend spoke in Chinese with cashier about how they are buying 8 sets so make it $20 instead. The manager was next to the cashier and said no. but my friend kept on pressing, and in the end the manager said $22. I was quite surprised that how he saved $2 just by negotiating for 1 minute. I know it's just $2, but I'm quite impressed with how he just did it with 1min of talk.
