The beginning of the match was heavily marred by massive latency spikes happening to players on both sides (including me). We were hit heavily, so initially we were behind quite a bit, in towers and in deaths.
This became such a huge problem we were discussing surrender at 20 minute mark. But we - for some reason - kept pushing on. Our Maokai was doing well in the crappy situation we were in.
During mid-game teamfights, it became a back-and-forth thing. He would bum rush a carry and pop his ult, while we followed in. Sometimes we won the teamfights, other times we made mistakes and had to retreat. Otherwise, all of the teamfights were evenly matched.
This game became so nail-biting that I decided for the sake of my team and for my survival, I had to go full off-tank (Mao was already our full tank, but I realized if I didn't get heavy damage mitigation, I would be squishy as hell). As a result, I got tons of armor and MR, yet still had Wriggles and Triforce at the very end.
Late game, things became more tense. We attempted to get Baron at least once, but that didn't work out (we retreated after enemy GP ulted on Baron). We managed to push and take out their mid inhibitor. A later push allowed us to take out top and mid inhibitor. However, things weren't over yet; the other team was still fighting very hard.
Later, the enemy team got Baron and attempted a push themselves. However, our awesome Maokai goes in, pops his ult, and tanks the damage. Vayne takes out one, then two, then three enemy champs during the ensuring chase. We then pushed all the way down, took out the 2 inhibitors. Then we saw it was possible to end the match for good. Mao goes in and tanks the damage, while Vayne painstakingly takes out the Nexus towers bit by bit. We were successful in the effort. By the time, I had respawned and rushed into the enemy base to help out. Since the enemy team was distracted by focusing on Mao and Vayne, I decided to go ahead and start wrecking the Nexus. I started getting increasingly focused, but I ignored it. Nexus was now halfway down. I kept going, and with a final hit, +50 gold appears and game was over.
Also...the enemy Veigar. So much freaking burst. He likely had over 600 AP by the time game ended. He was killing our squishies either one shot, two shot, or using his entire spell combo.
