The games absolutely turned to a point where there's absolutely no form of recovery when the community not only tolerates hacking, but feels so threatened by it to actually accept it.
Years ago, hacking may have been rampent, but it wasn't so awful that the economy crashes on itself, meso deflated to the point where a dollar is equilavent to 100m, and where a level 200 character is considered worthless. By worthless I'm talking nearly $150, which is no where near what it should be worth, even with the new content.
All and all, you try to talk down to people for making a big deal out of a game, yet act completely ignorant of the crude moral that runs it. Nexon doesn't run the game, hackers do, period. I have quit, in fact quit back in february. I actually had faith nexon, like in 2008 would release a capable ban system that would keep people from duping items, crashing servers, and/or dc hacking, and prepared for a come back. Then I decided it wasn't worth it, and really your opinion on the subject has little to no credibility because you're comparing the lesser of the two evils, not the original game.
In fact the double standards that have taken over this game, it doesn't matter what you do, the community no longer carries the negative stigma that made it difficult to hack and boss. Everyone wanted to be honest players, now everyone wants to be the one guy who gets a little more attention, or the power trip to say "I solo'd horntail". I don't think you'll understand how maplestory became a toilet based on a companies most basic mistake, negligence.
Yea, I'm not exactly new. I've been playing since 2006 actually. My opinion is based on actually playing the game and seeing the effects of what's happening, not making assumptions based on what I read on forums. I've been through the worst times of this game. The fact is it's nothing new. This has all been going on for years and the game has actually grown and become more popular and more profitable. The sad fact is that 90% of the community directly benefits from hacking in some form. It's not the same as it used to be. I know what you're talking about, I was there. Yea, there was a time hackers were shunned and legit pride existed but it's pretty hard to come by now with the simple availability mixed with the frequent exploits that make hacking such a prospective gold mine. I and many other users are just sick of reading about how every new exploit, glitch, or problem is 'the downfall of Nexon/maplestory' or how 'the end is coming' because you dc'ed for the third time today. People need to realize it's not that bad. It used to be worse. The fact that I understand that and I live with it and don't whine and moan doesn't mean I condone it, it just means I accept it as part of online gaming. Your whole post was a bunch of personal attacks strung together with complaints about Nexon and faulty assumptions, and you say I talk down to people? -_- get real.
As for your other post, what exactly do you want as consequences? People get banned all the time. They could do IP bans and then people would be whining they can't login because a hacker had their ip once. They could link to id's and then people would whine they were sharing too much info. There's no real simple solution to fix the issues of multiple accounts and the level->profit->ban mentality of todays hackers.
