Nexon has had the same rotation of cash cows for MapleStory, year in and year out. Shielding Wards are now added to that list of time-specific cash cows. With the "events" for the CS items, they put them into a rotation (roughly 90 days between terms) so that you have to stock up on them, and probably buy more than you need. If they're suddenly putting a lot of them into the market at once, off their schedule, there's something off. They've never done this before, and it's been looking as if Nexon has been having some trouble.

Or the schedule didn't make any sense in the first place.
It costs them nothing to rerelease time-limited items.
They could easily be using this as a way to test what NX 'cash cows' sell best in what combination.

Given the list of positions that they need to fill, 22 positions ranging from Software Development and Technology Director, to Game Designer, to Security Engineer, to Database Admin, it's conceivable that Nexon simply hasn't been able to offer their staff enough to do the job right. Add in the fact that the security and infrastructure of the game is deteriorating rapidly, and their videos have been getting much less detailed, and you start to get the picture that there're some problems in El Segundo.

I find it sad that you think the game's "security and infrastructure" are deteriorating. Fact is, nothing has changed other than hackers have found more and more ways to exploit an infrastructure that was always weak. The level of security has not changed: it was always pomegranate.

I think NEXON is fine, but the MS team may not be bringing in enough. We have to remember that those two are not the same, necessarily. A company can be doing great, and discontinue an unprofitable branch.

There is no evidence that Maplestory isn't profitable. All evidence points to the contrary.
