Considering Tsukishima didn't place himself in Uryuu's memories (That we know of) and just attacked him, my theory is he put Uryuu out of action because he needed someone to replace with himself in order to plant himself in people's memories, like an anchor or whatnot.
If he hasn't planted himself in Uryuu's memories, it'd make sense, although knowing how Kubo writes these arcs with swiss cheese in mind, I could just be overthinking it.
