Looks like "signus" would mean something to do with symbols or inscriptions? Not entirely inappropriate for something dealing with magic, as stuff I read elsewhere seems to indicate. Still seems silly to have a female figure with a masculine name, but... oh well.

Oh yeah, and I like this concept! Linking the skills of one character to another gives it a new twist, and provides incentive to work on both characters!
