My suspicion with ore drops is that they were removed coincident to another drop event being patched in, that came out in the same "super-patch" as Chaos in KMS. And while the recipe drops got lumped into professions, the removal of drops did not.
but that event was also GREAT exp, my DrK was getting a good 2% per victory at level 170, that's amazing for a lazy guy like me that just talks around,
