You haven't tried it? Everyone I know who has used it, no matter where their vents are has seen improvement. Now no doubt, if you have for example a new Asus with a completely closed bottom then it gives you maybe 5 degrees celsius cooler temps but if you have a nice open bottom it'll do you for 10+ sometimes. The air travels further than just where the fan is. It is designed how it is for a reason. But if you say so when it's been proven to have effect regardless then I guess I'll just believe you that your laptop is "unique".
Though from reading reviews there are always going to be ignorant people, like those who delete their drivers on new laptops thinking it's "bloatware" and then wondering why nothing works. But they mean nothing.
You are right that it will have less of an effect, but it would still help a bit.
